Cockroaches EXPORT | Jo Nesbo | Kharidobechobooks

The story picks up shortly after Inspector Harry Hole's assignment in Australia. This time, the brilliant but deeply flawed alcoholic Oslo detective is hastily dispatched to the steaming, chaotic streets of Bangkok, Thailand.
The stakes are highly political: the Norwegian ambassador to Thailand has been found stabbed to death in a seedy motel room that doubles as a local brothel. Because the ambassador possessed close ties to the Norwegian Prime Minister, Harry's superiors want the entire incident quietly hushed up to prevent an explosive international scandal. In fact, Harry is chosen for the assignment primarily because his superiors expect his severe personal demons to run the investigation into a dead end.
Instead of following orders to look the other way, Harry teams up with a sharp local Thai police inspector, Liz Crumley. As he dives beneath Bangkok's glittering tourist facade, Harry uncovers a dark, pervasive underbelly populated by corrupt Norwegian expatriates, predatory loan sharks, underground gambling circles, and devastating financial embezzlement schemes. Harry soon realizes that a single murder is just the surface level. True to the book's title, for every corrupt "cockroach" you spot out in the open, there are hundreds more hiding silently behind the walls.p
